At SPE UWA, we are dedicated to increasing awareness of diversity and equality in all STEM related disciplines within the Oil and Gas industry. Our vision for 2017 is to increase the number of diversity-based events that we run to provide inspiration and networking opportunities.
BP Presents: Growth Through Diversity
In 2016, BP hosted an open panel discussion style event, providing students with the opportunity to submit questions regarding diversity in the Oil and Gas industry to a distinguished panel of managers and engineers in both the upstream and downstream sectors. This was followed by a networking session with the panel.
Women In Oil&Gas
SPE UWA's Women in Oil and Gas Morning Tea features presentations from successful and inspirational female engineers working in the field. It provided an opportunity for women undertaking an engineering degree to network and form relationships with others in similar career pathways, and established life-long contacts with women in the industry.
Following 2015's sold out event, we were able to bring an exciting and experimental networking opportunity for female engineering students - a round robin networking morning tea. The 1:2 company representative to student ratio allowed 36 female students undertaking engineering studies to network exclusively with women in similar career pathways. Following the receipt of praises from several company representatives and students, SPE UWA looks forward to bringing an even better event next year!
Companies in attendance included Woodside, Shell, Schlumberger, DOF Subsea, Yokogawa and Santos.
